Tracking

Tracking describes how accurately an oscillator follows its pitch control voltage across several octaves. A well tracking oscillator plays an octave interval in tune everywhere on the keyboard. Poor tracking makes high or low notes go flat or sharp.

It is adjusted with a scale trimmer as part of calibration. The term also describes how a filter’s cutoff follows pitch, which is called keyboard tracking.
