Control voltage (CV) is the electrical signal used to control parameters like pitch, volume, and modulation in a synthesizer. Unlike MIDI, which is digital data, CV is an analog voltage that directly changes the behavior of a module. It is the traditional way of connecting modules, and it lets you create complex, evolving sounds by routing and manipulating voltages. In fact, nearly every signal in a modular system, including audio, is a voltage. Everything is CV.
