Patching

Patching is the act of connecting modules with patch cables to create a signal path and decide how signals control each other.

A basic patch connects an oscillator to a filter, the filter to a VCA, and an envelope to the VCA, with a keyboard or sequencer supplying pitch and gates. From there, almost any output can control almost any input, which is what makes a modular system flexible.
