Signal flow

Signal flow is the path a signal follows through a patch, from where it is generated to where you hear it.

In a typical voice, audio flows from an oscillator through a filter and a VCA to an output, while control signals such as envelopes and LFOs follow a separate path to modulate those modules. Thinking about signal flow makes patches easier to build, read, and troubleshoot.
