A module is a self-contained unit with its own panel that does one job in a modular synthesizer, such as generating a waveform, filtering a sound, or sequencing notes. Modules mount in a case and connect to each other with patch cables.
Because each module does one thing, you build a synthesizer by choosing which modules to combine and how to patch them together.
