Complex oscillator

A complex oscillator is a module that combines two oscillators, a modulation path between them, and usually a wavefolder or other waveshaper. One oscillator modulates or shapes the other, so you can build rich, evolving timbres from simple waveforms.

Complex oscillators come from Don Buchla’s west coast approach, and they remain central to it. Controls often include FM, timbre, and symmetry.
