Touch plate

A touch plate is a controller made of metal plates or sensor pads that respond to a finger. Instead of moving keys, they sense contact and often pressure or position, and they send out pitch, gate, and sometimes extra control voltages.

Touch plate controllers are common in modular systems, partly because they do not need a MIDI conversion step. Some, such as the Make Noise Pressure Points, are made for patching.
