MIDI, short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, is a technical standard that lets electronic instruments, computers, and other equipment talk to each other and stay in sync. MIDI does not carry audio. It sends data such as which note was played, how hard it was played (velocity), and when. It connects hardware and software across most modern music setups.
