Amplitude is the strength or level of an audio or control voltage (CV) signal. For audio, amplitude relates to loudness: higher amplitude means a louder sound. For CV, amplitude sets how much modulation is applied. A higher amplitude CV might open a filter further or raise the pitch of an oscillator by more. In a modular system it is measured in volts, or in decibels (dB) when describing loudness. Amplitude is a core part of signal control in synthesis, affecting dynamics, timbre, and the intensity of modulation.
