Unipolar

A unipolar signal stays on one side of zero volts, usually positive. Envelope generators and many CV controllers output unipolar signals, for example 0 V to +8 V.

Unipolar modulation moves a parameter in one direction from its set point, such as only opening a filter further. Compare bipolar signals, which swing both above and below zero.
