Sampling

Sampling is recording a piece of sound and playing it back later. A sampler can change the pitch and speed of the recording, trim it, loop it, and trigger it with gates or notes.

Sampling also refers to measuring a signal at regular intervals, as in digital audio and in sample and hold. Sampler modules in Eurorack range from simple drum players to full recorders and granular tools.
