Interval

An interval is the distance in pitch between two notes. Intervals are named by size, such as a third, fifth, or octave, and are counted in semitones. A perfect fifth is seven semitones, and a major third is four.

On a 1V/oct system, an interval corresponds to a fixed voltage difference, which is what lets precision adders and quantizers transpose or harmonize a sequence.
