Polyphonic

Polyphonic describes a synthesizer that can play several notes at the same time. A polyphonic modular needs a separate voice for each note, so it needs enough oscillators, filters, and VCAs, or a module that handles several voices at once.

Some modules and formats carry several voices on one cable to keep patching manageable.
