Pitch bend is a controller that smoothly slides the pitch of notes up or down, typically with a wheel or lever that springs back to center. In MIDI, it has finer resolution than most other messages to avoid audible steps.
The range is set on the receiving device, and a MIDI to CV module usually offers a setting for it.
