Paraphonic describes a synthesizer that plays several notes at once with separate oscillators but shares one filter, one VCA, and one envelope among them. Because the envelope is shared, playing a new note retriggers the others.
Paraphonic setups are cheaper to build than polyphonic ones and are common in modular systems with multi-oscillator modules.
