Formant synthesis

Formant synthesis builds vowel and voice-like sounds by emphasizing specific bands of frequency called formants. In the human voice, the shape of the mouth and throat creates resonant peaks, and the first few peaks define which vowel you hear.

A modular can approximate this by running a harmonically rich waveform through several band pass filters or a dedicated formant filter, and moving their positions with CV.
