Random walk

A random walk is a signal that moves up or down by a small random amount each step. Because every value is close to the last, it wanders gradually instead of jumping.

Random walks produce melodies that move in small steps and modulation that drifts without a fixed pattern. Brown noise is a continuous version of the same idea, and the process is also called a drunk walk.
