Brown noise, also called Brownian noise or red noise, is random noise with more energy at low frequencies, which gives it a deep, smooth sound like a gentle waterfall. Its power drops 6 dB per octave, so the low end is stronger than in pink noise. It is generated with an algorithm based on Brownian motion. In synthesis, it is used for warm, deep sounds and for natural effects like thunder.
