Random

Random, in a modular, means a signal that changes in an unpredictable way. A random module may output new voltages on each clock, random gates, or smooth wandering curves. Sources include noise, sample and hold, and dedicated random generators.

Random voltages are usually quantized to produce melodies and are limited with attenuators to keep them in a musical range.
