Drift

Drift is a slow change in a circuit’s behavior over time, most noticeable as an oscillator’s pitch wandering out of tune. Temperature changes are the usual cause, especially in analog oscillators that need time to warm up.

Some players try to avoid drift, and others like the slight instability because it makes sounds feel less static. Modern oscillators often include temperature compensation to reduce it.
