Pink noise is white noise with the highs rolled off at 3 dB per octave, so the low end comes through stronger. White noise has equal energy per hertz, which makes it bright and hissy. Pink noise has equal energy per octave, which matches how we hear pitch, so it sounds fuller and more balanced. In a modular system, it is great for wind, rain, and waterfall textures, softer percussion, and as a gentler random modulation source.
