Inverter

An inverter flips the polarity of a signal, turning positive voltages negative and the reverse. An inverted envelope falls as the original rises, which is useful for ducking and for closing a filter as a note plays.

An inverted audio signal is 180 degrees out of phase with the original, and the two cancel if mixed equally. Inverters are built into many utility modules and attenuverters.
