Chaos

In synthesis, chaos is behavior that follows fixed rules but is so sensitive to small changes that it cannot be predicted in practice. Feedback loops, cross-modulation, and dedicated chaotic circuits create it.

Chaotic signals sound different from random ones, because they keep a recognizable character while never repeating exactly. Rob Hordijk’s Blippoo Box and Benjolin are well known chaotic instruments.
