In modular synthesis, feedback is the process of routing the output of a module or system back into its input, either directly or through other modules. This creates a loop where the signal keeps circulating and affecting itself. Used creatively, feedback can generate complex oscillations, harmonics, and evolving textures. It can amplify, distort, or modulate a sound depending on what sits in the feedback path, such as filters, delays, or mixers. When controlled well, it is a powerful way to expand the sonic range of a modular synthesizer.
