An op-amp, short for operational amplifier, is an integrated circuit with two inputs that amplifies the difference between them. It is a basic building block of analog electronics.
With a few resistors and capacitors, an op-amp can be set up as a buffer, mixer, attenuator, filter, or oscillator. Many modules are built from rows of them.
