Buffer

A buffer is a circuit that copies a signal while isolating its source from whatever it connects to. It has a high input impedance and a low output impedance, so the signal stays strong and unchanged even when it drives several inputs or a long cable.

Buffered multiples use buffers to avoid loading the signal, which is why they are preferred to passive ones for splitting pitch CV.
