Joystick

A joystick is a controller with a stick that moves along two axes, often called X and Y, and outputs a control voltage for each. It allows you to change two parameters at once with one hand.

Joysticks are useful for blending two sounds, moving a stereo pan and a filter together, or performing expressive changes live.
