Control rate

Control rate describes signals that change too slowly to be heard as pitch, typically below about 20 Hz. LFOs, envelopes, and sequencer outputs run at control rate and move parameters over time instead of making sound directly.

The boundary between control rate and audio rate is not exact, and many modules can do both.
