Audio rate

Audio rate describes signals that cycle fast enough to be heard as pitched sound, roughly from 20 Hz up to 20,000 Hz. Oscillators usually run at audio rate.

Modulating at audio rate, instead of slowly, changes the sound itself, as in FM and ring modulation. The same module can often run at audio rate or control rate, depending on its settings.
