Cent

A cent is a unit of pitch equal to one hundredth of a semitone, so there are 1200 cents in an octave. It is used to describe tuning accuracy and detune amounts.

Most listeners notice differences of roughly five to ten cents when notes are played one after another, and smaller differences are heard as beating when the notes sound together. On a 1V/oct system, one cent is about 0.83 mV.
