Allpass filter

An allpass filter lets all frequencies through at the same level but changes their phase relationship, with the shift depending on frequency. On its own it sounds unchanged.

Mixed with the original signal, several allpass stages create notches, which is how phasers work. Allpass filters are also used in reverbs, where they spread out echoes without coloring the tone.
