Spring reverb

Spring reverb is a type of reverb that uses a transducer to send a signal into one or more metal springs, with a pickup on the other end. The vibrations bouncing along the springs create the decay.

The sound is bright, bouncy, and splashy, and it is well known from guitar amplifiers. Hitting or shaking the tank produces a loud crash, which some players enjoy as an effect.
