Dieter Doepfer is a German engineer and the founder of Doepfer Musikelektronik. He introduced the A-100 modular system in 1995, which established the Eurorack format.
His decision to share the specifications openly allowed other companies to make compatible modules, which led to the large Eurorack market that exists today.
