Bandwidth is the width of the range of frequencies that a filter passes or affects, measured in hertz or in octaves. In a band pass filter, a narrow bandwidth isolates a small slice of the spectrum, and a wide bandwidth lets through a broad range.
Bandwidth is inversely related to Q, so raising the Q narrows the bandwidth. The term also describes the frequency range a system can handle.
