Robert Moog (1934 to 2005) was an American engineer and the founder of Moog Music. He built some of the first commercially available modular synthesizers in the 1960s.
Moog used a keyboard and a subtractive approach, and he developed the transistor ladder filter, which became a hallmark of the Moog sound. His instruments helped bring synthesis into popular music.
